A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

Those readers who know me well can probably imagine exactly what my expression is saying in this photo: "Look, Cordelia, we stumbled upon the perfect theater for the Kirkos Caravan!" The owl, the bee, the butterfly, the tree, the clock face, the boat topped weather vane, the folk art... these are all themes, motifs, and designs that make up the Kirkos Caravan, my partly fictional traveling family performance troupe. Cordelia, with her new ukulele on her back, may be my last hope for getting one of my family members to join my (now) one woman show. This puppet theater appeared in the woods on the grounds of the Wheatland Music Organization since last year's festival, and I eagerly anticipate seeing a show there tomorrow. Today I spent 8 hours at the Elephant Ear wagon selling the sugary treats to festival go-ers, while Tony flipped burgers at the Knights of Columbus wagon. I've been attending this festival since I was 12 years old, so it's undoubtedly played a role in my artistic ambitions. Over the years, the festival has become a tradition for my kids as well, and if Cordelia's decision to take up the ukulele today is any indication, it has worked its inspirational magic upon her as well.
