Live tonight on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt: the McConnell Center Scholars and yours truly! This piazza is swarming with media companies right now, all fishing for potential interviewees regarding the conclave. Here is a video released today with Bishop Barron speaking about the papabili and more from the media perch overlooking Piazza San Pietro.

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

John 6:30-35

Sanctoral: Marian and James (d. May 6, 259)

Saint Marian, an ordained lector, and Saint James, a deacon, were martyred during the persecution of Valerian around the year 259. Few other facts are known about them.

It seems that while they were in prison, each had a vision regarding his martyrdom. They drew courage from these apparitions and were able to courageously face death. They were joined in their deaths by other Christians.

“Our duty must be to discern and order what has begun, in light of what our mission demands of us, moving toward a new heaven and a new earth, adorning the bride (the Church) for the Bridegroom. Otherwise, we risk clothing the bride according to worldly fashions, guided by ideological claims that tear the unity of Christ’s garment.” --Cardinal Baldassare Reina, vicar general of Rome, on April 28
