A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

This isn't the first fish Cordelia has caught, but it is the first fish she's caught while wearing one of her famous costume creations, so I thought it was worth a Carpe Diem Snapshot! We transported the wee fishy on ice with us to Onekama where Cordelia will fry it up with Daddy.

Liturgical: Thursday of the 15th Week of Ordinary Time

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Sanctoral: The Roman Martyrology commemorates St. Alexis (early 5th c.), "Man of God." He was an Eastern saint whose veneration was transplanted from the Byzantine empire to Rome, whence it spread rapidly throughout western Christendom. Together with the name and veneration of the Saint, his legend was made known to Rome and the West by means of Latin versions based on the form current in the Byzantine Orient. He was famous for his extraordinary self-denial.

Also commemorated the Blessed Carmelite Martyrs of Compiegne (d. 1794) also referred to as "Blessed Teresian Martyrs of Compiègne." These sixteen Carmelite nuns are the first recognized martyrs of the French Revolution. They were guillotined on July 17, 1794 at the Place du Trone Renverse (modern Place de la Nation) in Paris, France.
