A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

What precious treasures are the octogenerians and nonagenerians among us! My sister Felicia brought all these neighbors together to share information and memories of long lives lived on the shores of School Section Lake. Maxine, the lady speaking in this photo, told us about one of her favorite childhood memories on the lake when the carnival was in town when she was just a little girl. Not only did she see the Von Trapps perform during their cross-country tour, but she won her first airplane ride in a two-seater!

Sanctoral: Benedict (c. 480 – c. 547)
The Church has been blessed through Benedictine devotion to the liturgy, not only in its actual celebration with rich and proper ceremony in the great abbeys, but also through the scholarly studies of many of its members. Liturgy is sometimes confused with guitars or choirs, Latin or Bach. We should be grateful to those who both preserve and adapt the genuine tradition of worship in the Church.

The emperor justified his move with religious arguments (gaining favor of the gods). The then historian, Cassius Dio, attributed to the edict only to fiscal motivations (extension of taxes incriminating Roman citizens on the majority of the population without exemption from previous benefits).

And see the network 'gainst the sky,
