A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

The girls learned how to put their best foot forward today at an Irish dance summer camp with Cassie Barrows. The very energetic Miss Barrows also taught some cooking, etiquette, water and outdoor games to three different groups of kids this summer over the course of three weeks. Once I asked Cassie about her post graduation plans and she gave me the surprising answer that she is going to be an entrepreneur. That impressed me as really thinking outside the box, by not defining her future options in terms of one particular job, but instead using her talents, training, and interests in whatever way meets a community need that is also profitable to her. And that's exactly what she's doing as the creator of Quail Ridge Summer Camp. If you're interested in finding out about next summer's camp, email quailridgesummercamp@gmail.com.

Liturgical: Feast of the Transfiguration

"While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen."

Luke 9:28b-36

The new Moon always rises near sunrise.

The full Moon always rises near sunset.

The last quarter Moon always rises near midnight.

Quote: "...the Gospel shows that love is not the result of chance, but of a conscious choice. It is not a simple reaction, but a decision that requires preparation. Jesus does not face his passion out of fatalism, but out of fidelity to a path freely and carefully accepted and followed. This is what comforts us: knowing that the gift of his life stems from conscious intention, not a sudden impulse."

-- Pope Leo XIV
